I was born and raised in Michigan. When I was 18, I joined the U.S. Navy and spent two years stationed in Florida, but I have called Kansas home since 1989. I have a grown son who lives in Texas. In 2011 I was introduced to "the love of my life" and had the honor of marrying him in 2015. I now have two step children and daughter-in-law. We live north of Topeka and enjoy the quiet country life.
I have a BS degree in Criminology from KSU (2000) and a paralegal certificate from Washburn University (2013). Here at the firm, I am a paralegal practicing in the area of family law. Prior paralegal experience includes criminal defense and medicaid appeals. I was a police officer at Riley County Police Dept (Manhattan) from 1992-2001 and Topeka Police Dept from 2004-2010. In 2010 I decided it was time for a change from law enforcement. I returned to school and obtained my paralegal certificate. It was a natural progression from police officer since I still was able to work in the area of law, which I love.
When I am not working, we hit the road in our travel trailer and camp every chance we get. Plans upon retirement are to sell everything and hit the road full time to see the United States. On the weekends we camp at various sites throughout Kansas and Missouri. Once a year we take a camping vacation and have spent time in Michigan, Arizona, Florida and Kentucky.
